As the title suggests, this is the place to look if you're wanting to learn something about who I am and what things I care about. First and foremost, I am a proudly involved, third-year senior at Michigan State University pursuing education. I will graduate with a major in Interdisciplinary Social Studies: Social Studies Education and two minors; one in English and another in Psychology. In addition to my formal studies, I work two jobs and am involved with three other student organizations. I say all that to say this, I am dedicated to developing skills in every part of my life with the goal of being the best teacher I can possibly be.
Teaching to me isn't just a career choice I made, but rather a calling I had no choice but to listen to. Ever since I was a little girl, I have found a home in my classrooms and even today I still proudly state that my favorite holiday is the first day of school. I believe to the core that a school has every ability to hold a bit of magic for each student; for them to discover, explore, and harness all on their own. I want to be someone who encourages that exploration and discovery, and maybe if I'm lucky I'll get to witness the magnificence that comes with unlocking the magic of learning. Now, people here me talk about education all the time, and they respond with "yes, that's wonderful but you're young, what do you do for fun?" And honestly, I always struggle with the response. My fun doesn't look like others my age, I really do love the work I do: mentoring first generation and pell-eligible freshmen, and developing education curriculum for the members of the MSU Student Housing Cooperative. I love utilizing user-focused design thinking to solve local social problems with Design For America. And because of these things, I don't have much free time, but when I do, I have a HUGE "to read" list I am slowly working through, I love traveling and exploring, watching movies, and playing or coaching volleyball. All in all, the word most associated with me is Education. I eat, sleep, and breathe it as much as humanly possible, and I love every second of it.
